Our Breeding Males

LITTLE MAX: (Above)

We've built our entire breeding program around Little Max and his pedigree, choosing three males which compliment each other, Rocket (Max's son), Timmie and Fister. These males have similar ancestors, further back, so we're pulling on the old-time pedigree names to, hopefully, pull those qualities forward, without inbreeding. I think this makes a great basis for the conformation we all want to see in Chihuahuas without breeding genetic problems into the lines.

Each of the three have more than half champions in their pedigrees. I've included plenty of photographs on this web page so if you study the fathers and the mothers in our photographs, you'll quickly get a feel for which father or mother produces what kind of puppy. As a breeder, I want to have that kind of "proofing" before I purchase a puppy. I'm sure other breeders will too. As a puppy purchaser, I want to see all those expressions caught on camera, and get to know the type of person I take the puppy from!

Martha Abraham, Abrahams Precious Pets, Reynoldsville, West Virginia, owns Little Max and has produced beautiful puppies from him and his relatives. Wee are very grateful for Martha's diligence in helping us choose just the right "Fister" to compliment the puppies from Little Max. Martha is a person of excellence. I have seen what she does when people look and what she does when they don't...it's the same! She's a woman of excellence and good character. Rocket

Fawn and White, Chihuahua

ROCKET: (Above) Little Max's son has proven to be an excellent asset to our breeding program. I must apologize for this photo, however, our computer crashed several times and I'm still looking for the original set of cropped photos.

Like his father, Little Max, Rocket downsizes his progeny by 1 1/2 pounds consistently, and produces gorgeous puppies. Both of Rocket's parents were purchased from Max Hurd and are excellent quality. No cow hocks, no elbowing out, straight croups; great angulation, good depth of chest, and a fair number of long-coats, sabled fawns and tri's. Rocket is a star producer always improving the progeny.

In his four-generation pedigree of Hurd 30 ancestors, Rocket has 14 champions which include names like Ch Hurds Sir Winston, Hurds Happy Hannah, Ch Fandango Rock My World-S, Hurds Kiss of Kaila, *Ch Hurd Thru The Grapevine, Ch Hurds Hot Shot, Ch Nebens Solid Gold Solo, Ch Hurds Toby The Tomkat, Hurds Flutterby Dizzy Lizzy, Ch Hurds Happy Hank, Hurd's Maisie, Hurds Champagne Lady as well as Hurd's Witch Doctor, *Ch Dartan's Barbary Coast, *Ch Ouachitah Kodiak (brother to *Ch Ouachitah Beau Chiene ROM X), Ch Ouachitah For Your Eyes Only and Ch Ouachitah Brienna.

Timmie

TIMMIE: (Above) Timmie's head is an asset to any breeding program, not to mention the long list of impressive names behind him, adding all that quality expressed on his body!

Timmie's father was "Davishall's Guarico" whose brother was reportedly championed winning top honors all over and then sold to Japan for $20,000. The quality is in the lines which include "Sho-Me's The Way To Davishall", "Davishall Susie Knight" and any number of "Ouachitah Beau Chiene ROM X" and "Ch Ouachitah Kodiak" (brother to "Ch Ouachitah Beau Chiene ROM X". Quality, Quality and more quality. And we're beginning to see that quality in his progeny just beginning to be birthed!

Timmie's mother was "Fandango Stairway To Heaven" who was from "Champion Fandango Blaze of Glory-S" and "Champion Fandango Sweet Victory-L". And I didn't even begin to talk about her line's quality!

Fister

FISTER: (No photo yet) Fister has just joined the ranks and we are excited to have him. His pedigree is excellent, coming from the Hurd line and complimenting "Little Max" and Rocket so well. More details on this puppy when he grows up a little more.

Touchdown

TOUCHDOWN is our newest addition to our breeding program from Rocket and Dottie who adds excellent "type" and "color", being 3 1/2 pounds and from small genetics. His sisters are photo'ed above and below.

Nothing in this photo was changed; these little guys were actually lined up just like this! This was one of the most FUN litters wee have had!

Gumbo

GUMBO: Expected to be 3 1/2 pounds, this little man is a Lavender Chihuahua with smaller bones and strong appleheads behind him. Adorable and from small parents, Gumbo is being held for a couple of special, little girls to produce the smallest of puppies without inbreeding. We're looking forward to using this little guy to begin breeding January 2010.
